Position Summary:

The Center Leader, European Human Capital Center, will bring targeted experience to strengthen TCB’s commitment to the field of Human Capital (HC) in Europe.

The Center Leader will work with members/sponsors/advisory boards to build a business that enhances TCB’s member engagement, research, prominence and impact in the HC space (including Diversity & Inclusion, Employee engagement, HC Analytics, Labor Markets, Strategic HR and Talent management).

The successful candidate will have a strong business acumen and have a solid understanding of HC strategies. The Center Leader will build and ensure a sustainable business model and will be responsible for the effective operation of the Center, leading a cross-functional staff to drive the agenda and deliver on the value proposition. The Center Leader will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to engage senior corporate audiences.

The HC Center Leader will position the Center as a thought leader in HC whose research and insights are compelling and relevant. S/he must be a committed and inspirational leader internally, guiding the Center team to carry out its important work in convenings, insights, research, outreach and policy (where appropriate). A major focus will be taking advantage of the economic opportunities associated with the Center’s activities. S/he will be a member of TCB’s Management Committee and the International Senior Management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and potential members and sponsors and continuously articulate a strong value proposition.
  • Account management for key multinational companies that are both heritage members converted into HC Center members and newly recruited HC Center members.
  • Ensure retention of members through the delivery of high quality HC insights and a compelling membership proposition.
  • Confidently and comfortably facilitate dialogue with CEOs, CHROs, other senior corporate executives and government and university leaders.
  • Network and motivate to engage members and sponsors in directing their “time, talent, and treasure” toward generating and sharing insights.
  • Active presence at external events and internal management meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with The Conference Board’s European Council operations and Human Capital colleagues in Asia and the United States.

Essential Functions:

Operation: The HC Center Leader shares accountability for all aspects of the organization’s operation and administration. S/he is accountable for revenue, cost, and driving an agreed annual financial surplus of the HC Center. S/he must recruit and manage any Institute Leaders within the Center and participate in the selection, development and management of staff supporting the Center, both direct and indirect reports and including Council Directors.

Revenue Generation: The HC Center Leader is accountable for driving revenue from the Center’s memberships, sponsorships, conferences, partnerships and foundation grants (as applicable). The Center Leader will work with colleagues to continually strengthen the value proposition, create new offerings and evolve the business model to stay relevant to our customers.

Insight Development and Sharing: The HC Center Leader shares accountability for HC content creation as well as dissemination, developing and overseeing all aspects of the Center’s insight development (from research, institutes, working groups, councils and programs/conferences) and working with colleagues to ensure the sustained and meaningful participation of members, advisory boards and customers in its offerings. S/he must ensure that the organization maintains a pipeline of relevant content to support the Center’s position as a compelling place to convene. S/he will work closely with TCB’s Human Capital Center Leaders and researchers in the US and Asia to help create world-class HC Insights and build an international community of HC expertise.

Prominence: The HC Center Leader leads outreach efforts to increase TCB’s prominence in the HC space in Europe. S/he will be recognized broadly as a subject matter expert (SME) and will work closely with colleagues to build a deeper bench of SMEs (including Senior Fellows) who can speak to current and future customers. S/he will frequently serve as speaker at the Center’s councils, conferences, and other programs, both in-person and webcast. In such cases that the Center Leader is not an SME, s/he will ensure that relevant SMEs from the staff or Local Experts will develop a substantial public profile to build the brand of the Center. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of current trends in Human Capital strategies.
  • Articulate and effective communicator in both writing and presentation.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.

Education and Experience Requirements:

The HC Center Leader will be a dynamic and innovative executive with a record of achievement, strong leadership, and business acumen. The ideal candidate will have had both a substantial record as a thought leader in the HC area, and shown the ability to run a business in research, consulting or advisory services.

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience related to Human Capital strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of and relevant HC experience with TCB expertise areas.
  • Previous internal or external leadership positions in the Human Capital roles.
