POSITION SUMMARY

Conducts research projects developed within The Conference Board’s ESG Center, focusing on corporate environmental, social and governance practices. Presents research findings to business audiences, and acts as an interface in the area of expertise with corporate members of The Conference Board and the media.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports to the Vice President, Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Research and will be a member of The Conference Board’s research staff.

 

PRINCIPAL DIRECT ACTIVITIES

  • Designs, conducts and manages multiple research projects developed within The Conference Board ESG Center. Assumes direct responsibility for each phase of the project (design, execution, and writing).
  • Conducts literature searches, data-gathering activities (e.g. interviews, focus groups and survey instruments), and data analysis, using appropriate quantitative or qualitative techniques. Draws objective findings and conclusions within the limits of the research design.
  • Acts as an interface in the area of expertise with members of The Conference Board and The Conference Board ESG Center through participating in the presentation of research findings to business audiences through in-person and virtual briefings and webcasts, and.
  • Collaborates with the editorial and production department in the timely production of research manuscripts and related deliverables, and gains necessary clearances.
  • Collaborates with the communications department in designing and executing communication plans for research projects in development.
  • Provides information services to media outlets, members of The Conference Board and Information Specialists, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

A graduate degree in law, finance, or business administration and at minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience is required.

Prospective candidates should demonstrate extensive exposure to at least one of the following business areas: corporate governance, risk management, corporate sustainability, corporate citizenship and philanthropy.

In addition, the position requires strong analytical, writing, and editorial skills as well as the ability to interact effectively with business leaders and senior professionals. A track record of publication in ESG is necessary. Three writing samples and a list of prior publications should be submitted with the application. Demonstrable experience with presentation and public speaking is required.
